There are three classes of membership in GPPA:
Member, Associate, and Affiliate.
The requirements for each are as follows:
1. MEMBERS of the Association shall meet at least two of the following criteria, as certified by the Membership Committee of GPPA:
A. Good standing as a Member, Fellow, or Life member of the American Psychological
Association (APA) or possession of all the necessary and sufficient requirements for
membership in the American Psychological Association.
B. Possession of a doctoral degree from a regionally-accredited educational institution, based in part upon a psychological dissertation, or from a program primarily psychological in content.
C. Professional interest as a psychologist or other behavioral scientist in Pittsburgh or
surrounding communities.
2. ASSOCIATES of the Association shall be persons who meet both of the following criteria, as certified by the Membership Committee of GPPA:
A. Possession of a master’s degree in psychology from a regionally-accredited educational institution.
B. Professional interest as a psychologist or other behavioral scientist in Pittsburgh or
surrounding communities.
3. AFFILIATES of the Association shall be persons who are graduate students, pursuing an advanced degree in a regionally-accredited or recognized program of psychology.
To apply, please complete the attached application and submit it with the appropriate dues. If youare applying after June 30, submit only one-half (1/2) of the annual dues. Decisions about membership are made at the next GPPA Board Meeting following receipt of your application and references. About two weeks after submitting your application, you should check with those persons you listed as references to make sure they have received and returned the Reference Forms.
